RESUMO

The principle purpose of this masters degree dissertation is the study of communication as a dynamic process in which all kinds of mediations are related to a principle of tension. This principle is based on the hypothesis that the body is the primary media of the communication process upon which all other medias are based, and to which they return. In this sense, communication is herein understood as a process of permutation of bodies (concrete and abstract), synthesized in the open concepts of tension and penta-musculatura. These concepts have been studied in an experimental field, the Taanteatro Experience (taantheater), a practical theatrical approach, developed by the author of this research during the 1980s, and works on the principle of stimulating the corporal interaction within the polyphony of sign-systems that compose the language of dance-theater. In this manner, it is understood that this process implicates the construction, action and circulation of subjectivities, desires, wills, expressions, appetites and abilities (both in daily life as well as artistic); situations in which the theatrical experimentation permits one to reflect on alternative procedures of constructing multiple corporalities that surpass arborescent models of the montage of individual and collective subjects and objects. In order to analyze this experience the dissertation is structured on three experimental key concepts developed in the context of the trajectory of Taanteatro: tension, penta-musculatura and meta-choreography. These concepts and practices compose the chapters of the dissertation, thus providing situation analysis reports. The concepts also describe practical strategies for the construction of the body of the performer (actor, dancer etc.), which have been explored during a fourteen year period. It is within this context that some of the creative processes of Taanteatro Company are being presented. The conceptual basis of the study is updated by the philosophical references of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, based principally on their concepts of happening and ritornello developed in Logic of Sense and A Thousand Plateaus.
