RESUMO

The research discusses the use of Information Technology and Communications that is revolutionizing the activities and causing many changes related to access and use information. The objective was to analyze the degree of utilization of scientific knowledge produced by the Graduate Programs of Brazilian Public Universities by BDTD by masters of these programs. In the methodological procedures performed, it was initially examine the broad spectrum of the population of the corpus of research. Due to the impossibility of working with the Graduate Program as a whole, we decided to make a cut, choosing courses Postgraduate Information Science, since these represent the main segment of interest in social research. Method was used to study users, where we chose to adopt the group "studies geared to users which identified the needs and behavior to access and use information. To collect data, was conducted a semi-structured questionnaire with 25 questions that focused on the use, difficulties of access and retrieval of information, and satisfaction in using this source of information. Among several results, we highlight the fact that most of the masters (71.8%) only had to BDTD only at the time was attending the Masters and only 24.3% had contact during graduation. These results represent a problem that can affect the performance of BDTD project, which is to disseminate and publicize the scientific production of the Graduate Programs of Brazilian Public Universities to their community. We also observed that the postgraduate course in library science from the contact tends to stick with BDTD earlier than masters of other undergraduate courses. To minimize the problem detected, we propose a more effective delivery in undergraduate through two procedures: First, teachers should make more effective delivery of BDTD along with students from all undergraduate and second: it should be done dissemination in electronic media, by inserting icons BDTD, the gates of the Departments of undergraduate programs of the Brazilian Public Universities. It is believed that these procedures can be improved using this source of scientific information.
