RESUMO

The concrete is a quasibrittle and heterogeneous material. These attributes are favourable to arise cracks that could propagate with time in a loaded structures. Some advances of the fracture mechanics theory applied to concrete have been already achieved. Nowadays, there are three basics models of constitutive diagrams used to simulate the concrete behaviour under crack propagation: the linear, bi-linear and non linear shapes. Several researchers used theses models for a comparative analysis, which are, Petersson (1981), Rots et al (1985), Cornelissen et al (1986), Horii (1988), Jefferson e Wright (1991), Gopalaratnam e Ye (1991), Planas e Elices (1991), Guinea et al (1994), Li e Bazant (1994), Ali (1996) e Alfaiate et al (1997). Though, these constitutive models are used, here, for an analysis that hadnt been discussed yet. Differents values of critical deformations are consider and two methodologies for the simulation of the concrete heterogeneity are presented and compared in this work. The propose is to evaluate the results obtained by each analysis, emphasizing the dynamic aspects of crack propagation in concrete beams. Some examples are evaluated and discussed, allowing, through the analyses carried out, the knowledge of the behaviour of the crack propagation and the influence of the constitutive law applied to concrete on results obtained.
