RESUMO

This study estimates the Income Generation Programme that has been developed by the Municipal Town Hall of Campo Limpo Paulista, through its Social Assistance Administration. The project brings to discussion the capacity of the Income Generation Social Programmes to offer opportunities to need families, characterized by permanent dependence on private or public assistance actions, so that they can be able to supply basic needs by themselves in a regular, consistent and permanent way. In the specific case of income generation actions, the results, when and if are known, generally don t demonstrate whether there was improvement on social condition of the participant families; the programmes don t reflect necessarily, coherence with the public means regional actions, what compromises its final objective. In the present case, the activities developed with the selected families as a way of obtaining revenues didn t prove to be compatible with the participants skills, availabilities and disposition as well as a possible regional inclination, which contributes conclusively to the results obtained. The results analysis reveals that the programme has a tendency to exclude the poorest families since they don t attend the programme register requirements. As a consequence of this valuation, we present a proposal for made in which we try to remove those aspects we believe that don t contribute for a better performance of the actual programme, and insert actions that can represent conclusive factors in achieving positive results
