RESUMO
The present work had as general objective to study the influence of the growth rate in different silviculturals models in the wood quality of a clonal hybrid of Eucalyptus urophylla x Eucalyptus grandis. The considered effects were two ages (70 and 166 months) in two planting systems (coppice and reform), with three intensities thinning (91, 80,5 and 77,5%). It has been evaluated the wood volume and bark thickness, heartwood/sapwood relationship, form factor, taper as dendrometrics parameters; specific gravity, shrinkage and the longitudinal residual strain as physical parameters; static bending (Module of Rupture MOR and Module of Elasticity MOE) axial crushing as mechanicals parameters. It was used no-destructive methods for the indirect determination of the specific gravity through the use of Pilodyn. Also a descriptive evaluation of wood quality through the Resistograph was carried through. The results show that the hybrid present similar behavior to the other wood of the same hybrid that growth in different regions of the country, distinguished it sapwood thickness coppice condition wasnt variable along the stem. All evaluated trees presented in general a low taper along of the stem. The use of Pilodyn presented low efficiency when correlated with the density of the wood, independent in the management form. For the comparisons accomplished through the resistograph, it can be affirmed that the equipment possesses some inconveniences, as the heating of the drill, when the perforation of the wood, what causes small attritions, consequently not inferring in good results. In general, the equipment obtained good results in the distinction of the juvenile wood in the three studied extracts. The longitudinal residual deformation presented small variability in the trees provenance of the coppice condition and age of 70 months in the four cardinals positions. The specific gravity presented the most values in the extract with more years old along the stem and in the radial position, besides smaller volumetric shrinkage and smaller anisotropic coefficient (1,66). In the tests of static bending, the extracts coppice condition and reform presented next absolute values, detaching the second extract with the largest absolute values. The correlation of Pearson shows a good correlation between many evaluated characteristics, where detaches the density with the mechanical properties and the thickness of sapwood, index of circularity and taper, basic characteristics when quality in sawed wood search.
