RESUMO

Exposure assessment is the step which knowledge is essential for the risk assessment. Exposure assessment is the estimate or quantification of the contact of chemical agents with the outer part of the organism. To the knowledge of exposure one needs appropriate instruments based on validated methodology. Passive dosimetry allows the quantification of chemicals in contact with skin and respiratory upper tract, and is used for the assessment of dermal and inhalation exposure. Among the methods for the realization of passive dosimetry for dermal exposure assessment, the method that comprehends the whole body ? whole body method ? presents advantages in relation to other methodologies. The application of the pesticide Methamidophos, in bush culture of tomatoes, was accompanied in the States of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. In this study it was made concurrently, the passive dosimetry by the whole body method, inhalation exposure with the use of special filter bind to personal air sample pump and biological monitoring, during a field assay. The observations during the assay showed that it is possible to evaluate workers exposure in Brazil. The implementations of guidelines for the exposure assessment for passive dosimetry by the whole body method and biological monitoring may find in this reseach the necessary inputs
