RESUMO

During my doctoral period I worked on some experimental fields of physics science. I investigated and characterized several materials of interest for the industry; i.e. the analyzed materials are of technological importance. The present work consists in the application of several material characterization techniques. By this means, it is presented here some theory and results analysis using electron paramagnetic resonance, photoacoustic spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence. Moreover, the work was leaded in the direction of analyzing and understan-ding systems of samples containing iron ions in their structural lattices. Particularly, we studied catalytic materials and clay soil samples. We could understand more deeply how the crystalline ligand field symmetry due to the neighbors affects the iron ions spectra. In this sense, it was possible to infer a little on the iron ions site symmetry distortion by electron paramagnetic resonance experiments. In the same way, the site symmetry modification due to the presence of water molecules was studied as well. In the appendix section the crystalline ligand field theory is explained what permits a better interpretation of the optics and the magnetic spectra
