RESUMO

From September 2000 to June 2002, 88 collections of Aphyllophorales were undertaken in 13 reserves of Atlantic Rain Forest in the States of Alagoas, ParaÃba, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe. Nine families, 65 genera and 134 species were identified. Six species are new to science, while 17 are new records to Brazil and 43 to the Northeast region. Species collected in Alagoas, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe are new records for these States. Higher number of genera and species were of Polyporaceae, and lower of Schizophyllaceae. Species of Ganodermataceae and Hydnaceae were not found in Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe, respectively. The other families were registered in all States surveyed. No species was found in all reserves, but five were recorded in 12 of the 13 areas and 14 were found in all States. Higher specific diversity and exclusive species were found in Pernambuco (88 and 18, respectively) and RPPN Fazenda SÃo Pedro (AL) (57 and 14, respectively). Aphyllophorales were collected more frequently in November/2001, January and March/2002. The basidiomes were mostly found densely aggregated, in intermediate light-exposed environments and in intermediate to very decayed substrates. Under conditions of less light the species usually occupied more decayed substrates. Number of species and similarity between areas were positively affected by the degree of conservation of the areas. Similarity was also positively affected by length of the footpath and negatively by the distance between the areas
