RESUMO

This investigation focuses on the hidden curriculum of an elementary school in the town of Itajai. It analyzes the school devices and rituals that silence voices in the curriculum, with the purpose of improving/reconstructing its educational project. The qualitative methodological approach was used in this research. In this approach, knowledge is seen as a movement, which is neither static nor absolute. It is based on the existence of a dynamic relation of interdependence between the subject and the object, which results in an indissoluble link between the objective world and the subjectivity of the subject. Thus, for the data collection, the following techniques were applied: interviews (semi-structured), documents (minutes of the pedagogical meetings), images (school photographic archives), and observation. The thematic area of this research was Public Policies and Educational Practices, within the line of research Public Policies for Curriculum and Assessment. This research enabled a criticism of the silence that silences school devices and rituals that lead to submission, unlike the silence that listens, and its importance in the communicational space and for promoting dialogue for the collective construction of the school curriculum. This study also draws attention to the way in which we engage in this school machinery whereby, without our realizing it, we validate ideologies and silence learning. As a result, it demonstrates that in the school investigated, curricular devices and rituals institute order, discipline, morality, and silence, effects which, in what concerns the school curriculum, are marked by a lack of awareness of individual and collective actions.
