RESUMO

The infectious diseases are now one of the major causes of death in all over the world. The appearance of emerging infectious diseases and the problem of microbial resistance has driven the research for new antimicrobial agents. A thousand of years the medicinal plants has been used by your properties of healing. From this utilization scientific studies has discovered the beneficial and harmful properties of each plant, and the scientific proof of the therapeutic action has led to an increase in their consumption over time. Among the several plants with therapeutic potential are include the Piperacea family. For this reason the objective of this research was to analyze the antimicrobial activity through the test of minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC), minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) and minimal fungicidal concentration (MFC), the citotoxic and acute toxicity through the test with Artemia salina and fixed-dose, and mutagenicity through the test with Sacharomyces cerevisae and micronucleus of the extracts of Piper cernuum, P. amplum, P. aduncum, Piper 4 and Piper 5, and of the isolated substances of P. aduncum (3-(1-oxo-3-methyl-2-butenyl)-4-hydroxybenzoate of methyl, (ester methylic of acid 2,2-dimethyl-6-carboxycroman-4-ona), (3-(1-oxo-3-methyl-2-butenil)-4-metoxybenzoate of methyl) and (2,6-dihydroxy-4-metoxy-dihydrochalcone). In the bioautographic test, such the extracts as the isolated substances have showed inhibition against S. aureus. In the MIC test, the extracts that showed the best results was the Piper 4 against S. epidermides, B. subtilis, S. aureus, S. saprophyticus, and the extracts of P. aduncum and Piper 5 that has showed activity against the same microorganisms aforesaid and S. pyogens. In the test performed with de fungi the best results was of the P. aduncum and Piper 5 extracts that showed activity against C. albicans and C. parapsilosis. In relation to cytotoxicity against Artemia salina, all the extracts and isolated substances showed lower concentration than 1000 μg/mL, thus considerate cytotoxic. In in vivo teste of acute toxicity and mutagenicity the extracts that were tested dont demonstrate toxic potencial or mutagenic
