RESUMO

The aim of this work is to analyse how the counter intuitive phenomena known as Symmetry Non Restoration and Inverse Symmetry Breaking manifest themselves within multi scalar field theories displaying O(N)O(N) symmetry. Both, the relativistic as well as the non relativistic versions of such models are investigated here. For the relativistic case, which is important for Cosmology, we review how those phenomena persist at high temperatures even when thermal effects on the couplings are considered. The original part of the work regards the study of the non relativistic case, which is relevant for Condensed Matter Physics. In particular, we show, that contrary to their relativistic counter parts, those models cannot display ISB and/or SNR when the important thermal dependence of the couplings is considered.
