RESUMO
The subject of this work is the study of tablets coating with a polymeric film in a two-dimensional spouted bed using three diferent positions for the suspension atomization. The choice of the position is normally made in order to simplify the design of the apparatus and taking in account the characteristics of each atomization point. The chosen positions for the localization of the air atomizing nozzles in this work were the top, the slanted base and the bottom of the bed. Preliminary experiments were made before the comparative study. They were made in order to establish process conditions, such as air spouting flowrate (Wg), flowrate of coat suspension (Ws),air pressure of atomization (Par),batch load (Mo) and angle ofthe slanted base (8) of the bed. The experimental data of the coating kinetics as a funtion of the process variables were obtained for the three positions of atomization. The mass covering the tablets presented a linear growth of the film, therefore the slope of the straight lines fitting of the experimental data could be used to analyse the behavior of the growth of the film for different values of the process variables. To quantify the influence of the variables on the coating process a factorial planning 23was used. The suspension flowrate was the variable that showed the greatest influence on the thickning of the film. The experimental results showed no significative differences in the growth of the mass adhered to the tablets for the three atomization positions, in the ranges of the variables Ws,Wg,Par studied in this work
