RESUMO

This thesis analyses the unevenly behavior of the earning share in the recent history, when a great dissemination of Information Technology took place. Through GiniÂs ratio methodology calculation and taking into account the Gross Domestic Product - GDP and respective population of sixteen Nations as a sample, nine being part of Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) as well as seven countries of Latin America, were checked two elapsed periods: the first one from 1950 to 1980 and the second one from 1980 to 2002. The literature related to economic growth, technological innovation and earning share was critically analyzed and evidence by calculation showed as a result a positive relationship between the GDP and the rate of use of the information technology resources. The study was carried out taking as basis two different data base, which enabled for the two historic periods, two different mixes of GDP and population. The results showed convergence and demonstrate that, besides above mentioned aspects, earning concentration, since 1980, has risen on the sample, historic period when Information Technology became more popular in the world
