RESUMO

This dissertation aims to inquire about the idea of love and intimacy, in contemporary society, through the feminine point of view and to comprehend the transformations that have contributed for the construction of new types of love in relationships. Two main questions guide this text: are we going forward to an increasing solitude and because of that, are we ourselves becoming incapable of loving? Or are we following the track of opening intimacy and experiencing relationships based on more intimacy? Instead of seeing as antagonistic, both questions influenced the construction of the scenery in which love and intimate relationships have taken place in contemporary society. I believe that the ideal of romantic love is becoming no more predominant. Then, a new form of living affections has been consolidating according to, mainly, transformations in the love ideals and in feminine universe. Relationships based on communication, conjugal intimacy and individual autonomy, have contributed to the construction of a new concept of love, more real and more possible than it had been before
