RESUMO
This study arises from the observation of the profusion of organized religious groups at the university and from the religious nature of acknowledgements and dedications in monographs at the closing of the course of Pedagogy at Universidade Federal Fluminense. Considering this, we investigate the relations between the students religious beliefs and their academic development. As we identify, at the modern materialistic racionalism, the increasing fragmentation of the human being and of the knowledge, as well as the main causes of the failure in contemporary education, we see the need to recover the sacred dimension of existence. The dialogue with the religious beliefs of the students is a good opportunity to reconsider old concepts and positions in relation to Knowledge, Science and Religion, and to improve our pedagogic practices.
