RESUMO

The present thesis is the result of a research developed in the intervention movement of the Project of Literacy for Youngsters and Adults in the University PROAJAUNIPLAC. The objectives of this investigation were: a to study the development of reading and writing and its social appropriation by youngsters and adults in a determined process of literacy; b - to reflect the process of formation of those educators who were engaged in the project. The idea, defended in this work, is that the intersection between the space of formation and the constitution of literacy practices intensify the possibilities of a formative process in concrete contexts of the formative educational practice, overcoming an naive, and not contextualized knowledge of the reality. Methodologically, this study of a qualitative nature was accomplished making use of some theoretical assumptions of the ethnographic work. During the investigation, individual and collective interviews were used, besides observations of activities in the course of the action. In order to compose the theoretical references for this study, and to reflect about it, I took into consideration authors whose object of investigation were the dimensions of literacy works in the education of youngsters and adults, in a perspective of a transforming practice, authors such as: Freire (1987, 1988, 1995, 1996, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2005); Vygotsky (1981,1988); Luria (1979, 1983, 1987, 1988, 1992, 1997, 1998); as well as, those who studied the teaching knowledges as Tardif (2002); Gauthier (1998) among others. The articulation of the dimensions of the literacy practice and the process of teachers formation resulted in a critical reflection in a dialectic process of elaboration e reelaboration of knowledge either for students as for educators.
