RESUMO

The objective of this study was to assess the interrelation between the focal ischemic brain lesion anatomically and functionally, and the recuperation of aphasic symptoms secondary to this lesion. A case study was carried out with four patients attended in a neurologic specialized hospital and consultation room. Na evaluation was made on the clinical neurological, speech neurological, anatomical and functional neuroimage examinations and a comparative analysis of the verbal expression evolution of the patients. It was concluded that there is no exclusive relationship between the focal brain lesion and the recuperation variable of the aphasia problems. These results contribute to a better understanding by the neurologic clinic when attending patients with aphasia symptoms
