RESUMO

This research aimed to investigating the production of senses between parents and adopted children about motherhood, fatherhood and affiliation, emphasizing the study of language according to Vygotsky socio-historic perspective and enunciativediscursive. A group of three families participated on this research and each one of them had different family configuration (single parents, married parents, and homosexual parents), whose children were adopted late, at the ages of 5 and 10 years old. The method of study was based on video transcript interview and subdivided in three stages: First, the parents read a book named âMy Sweet Heart Babyâ to their children, then parents and children discuss the text and finally, they tell the adoptionâs story experienced by them. The analysis of the speech produced was based on the search of the meaning cores proposed by Aguiar, in which similar, complementary and contradictory speech contents are articulated between them allowing better and more consistent analysis of meaning and sense. According to single parentsâ family interview, it was observed that a not overcame mourning of the death of the childâs biological mother had a significant role in the production of senses because people involved in the adoption practice perform motherhood and affiliation, fulfilling the role related to being a mother and a son, but they doesnât position as such. A not overcame mourning during the adoption makes the process of become mother and son harder, as well as a better actualization of the senses about this kind of parenthood. As to the senses produced by the homosexual family, to these adoptive parents fatherhood means to assume the role and position of a father in the household, but whenever necessary, they assume the motherâs place. Father and motherâs role is perceived like complementary and important to keep the childâs physical and emotional development. On the other hand, the affiliation sense produced by the adopted child about this homosexual couple is one of being chosen and loved. Finally, the sense produced by married parents demonstrated that motherhood is oriented by the lack of a biological reference between the adopted the childâs mother and father, which constitutes an obstacle to the comprehension of the difficulties presented by this child. Motherhood practice is perceived as more intense than fatherhood because the mother is more active in the childâs education while fatherhood is practiced as a breadwinner activity and as the one responsible to promote recreational activities for the family. Being an adopted child means having been rejected in the past by the biological parents; this fact is hard to bring it up and spoken up. In general, the king of family configuration (single-parents, married-parents and homosexual parents) guides the produced senses about the motherhood, fatherhood and adoptive affiliation, interfering in the subjective process of the people involved
