RESUMO

Studies that use alternative materials and techniques of construction have assumed a great importance and relevance in engineering in the current context of environmental preservation and use of residues. This research had as a general objective studying the technical feasibility of applying the cement residue and sand, originally from the civil construction, in the production of modular bricks of soil-cement. Therefore, an experimental methodology was used and in the mixtures compounds, measured by weight (mass), the residue was substituted due to the soil mass in the proportions of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. The cement was added in the proportion of 10% in relation to the mass of the mixture soil-residue. So to evaluate the influence of the mechanical properties of the bricks, plastic aditive was used added to the water in the proportion of 0,1 litres/100 kg of cement and 0,2 litres/100 kg cement. Ten families were produced in which some soil-cement compactation, water absorption and compression strengh tests were done. The latest two tests (rehearsals) were conducted on the seven and 28 days. The bricks obtained with the help of a manual press, have dimensions as 25,0 cm x 12,5 cm x 6,25 cm, with two 5,0 cm holes diameter. A modulation study was done aiming the decreasing of material waste whenever bricks are broken. And in order to obtain a better interpretation of results, an statistical analysis was done. It was verified that in the water absorption tests, the residue adding resulted in benefits in the composition in which it was used in the proportion of 15%. On the other compositions that incorporation did not change this property. The adding of the residue did not change the compression strengh results during the 28 days for any composition. The results analysis showed that the use of the plastic additive caused a positive effect in the water absorption in the compositions of 10% waste and in the other compositions did not promote significative variations. The plastic additive produced in the compositions of 20% waste the best results for the compression strengh tests. It was proved the technical feasibility of the use of the cement residue, sand and plastic additive in the manufacture of soil-cement bricks. Its important to enphasize that the use of this residue contributes so that the same may not be disposed in the nature, avoiding pollution for the environment
