RESUMO
The study focus on the power relations found in an intermedicality context in the Atikum indigenous community, located in the Pajeà Region, state of Pernambuco, Brazil. Considering the praxis of knowledged practicers, Biomedicine and Atikum indigenous medicine fight for recognition within the groupâs political hierarquies, as well as negociate practices and meanings.By taking into account both the Atikumâs perspective about knowledge systems that interacts with one another, and the analisys of health related indigenous institutions and policy, it is possible to have a better understanding of how the intermedical experience is carried on in the community, and how the power relation mechanisms can be created and renegociated
