RESUMO

This research proposed to investigate the possibilities of elaboration of the feminine position after the end of the fertility. Starting of the hypothesis that the extinction of the reproductive cycle can lead to a new elaboration of the sexuality, resulting in different manners of organization of the feminine subjectivity, it was investigated the possible ways and difficulties experienced in the accomplishment of such psychic processes, through a psychoanalytic listen to women that are in menopause. The interviews were accomplished according to the method of the free association, seeking to obtain data on the changes noticed by the women with the passage for the menopause. Such data were analyzed inside of the historical and subjective dimension of each patient one, trying to settle down significant relationships among the same ones, in order to evidence the principal present psychic aspects. The qualitative analysis of the same ones was accomplished according to the descriptive method, in the light of theoretical referencial of Freud and Lacan. The results of the research took to the confirmation of the initial hypothesis, allowing to conclude that the menopause introduces subjective changes, which come in according with the significances attributed by each woman to the fertility and the feminine position, in the course of the different phases of the development.
