RESUMO
The objective of this dissertation is to estimate a model to forecast the demand of intra state passenger transport tickets in Brazil. To reach this objective, a multiple regression analysis model and artificial neural networks will be used. Regression models were tested in their functional behavior and investigated for the presence of outliers and influent observations. Our results showed that the non linearity modelled by the neural networks did not result in a better forecast when compared to the regression model. Our final regression model has a reasonable forecasting power, although there is possibility of overestimating the demand.
