RESUMO

The contemporary world presents a recognized society for the consumption of services and activities of leisure. The resort is presented as an equipment and installment of service, leisure as a product to be consumed by the post-modern man. Which are the symbolic - imaginary aspects that enable and keep business on resorts as an experience of leisure? This question lead to a research, whose report and results found, consists on the present work. - Plaza Itapema Resort, in Santa Catarina. Some interviews had been done with the guests and the staff of the resort, as well as the analysis of contents and ads of the hotel. The guest of the resort is characterized for his habit of journey and purchasing power, except the guest of events. The experience of peace, relax and prosperity provided by the retire from the routine life make the difference in a resort through its service and its media.
