RESUMO

The aim of this work is to identify the problems and the possible virtues related to expansion of a new type of private educantion: the franchised teaching. As a basis for the develop of this study of this study it was chosen the Sistema Anglo de Ensino (Anglo System of Teaching); in Chapter 1 we analyse the history and the improvement strategy of this enterprise, wich has been in the pre-vestibular course market for 60 years and, in the last decades, expansed to regular levels of Brazilian education (fundamental and medio), by a model of granting franchises to different private schools spread ail over the national temtary. The central point of this model is the sale and the application of a teaching material (organized in not.cbooks) and the pemission for the use of the anglo brand by schools considered as partner or franchisee unities of the System. In order to understand the impact of this association, the way the relations between the die of the system and the franchisee unities are constructed, and to understand how teachers work is developed in face of previously constructed dasses - wich must be applied according to a rigid and imposed schedule - we make in Chapter 2 a study of case in which we follow the creation and the function of one of the systems of the Sistema Anglo de Ensino: the Colegio Educaqao e Cultura /Anglo Jacutinga (Education and Culture/Anglo Jacutinga School), located in a south city of Minas Gerais. in a frontier region with Sao Paulo.
