RESUMO

This work provides an analysis of literary texts written by brazilian women in the passage from the nineteenth century to the twentieth century. From the reading and selection of discursive surfaces of two novels written by female writers from Ceará (A Divorciada, by Francisca Clotilde; A Rainha do Ignoto, by Emília Freitas) and of the literary magazine A Estrella, I have collected matrixes of intelligibility, which were expressive in relation to the social representations and self-representations of women, which means, in the relation to the construction of female subjectivity. Through these matrixes it was possible to have a view of the discursive strategies used to keep up the hierarchy in the gender relations, as well as the strategies of resistance deployed by these writers to question the patriarchy in the brazilian society of the lifetime. The multitude of values, senses, representations and experiences indicates the explosion of the centralized, coherent and static female subject, providing instead break up, contradictory, dynamic identities.
