RESUMO

From an important official recommendation, to cite the federal Law 10639/03 that deals with the obligatory insertion of Afro-Brazilian and African history and culture in basic education this work aims at exemplifying how actions can be taken both from an educational public policy and from proposals to be implemented by educators and institutions engaged at fulfilling the principles of cultural plurality, diversity and values on the official documents that direct the public and private teaching in Brazil. Initially, teaching materials and pedagogic practices were proposed to teach Chemistry according to Brazilian law 10639/03, which deals with the obligation of inserting African and Afrobrazilian history and culture on basic education. It was discussed the relationship between what was ratified on Brazilian law 10639/03 and the possibilities of application in Chemistry classes in all levels of basic and superior education, as well as in the formal and informal teaching, specifically in Biochemistry subjects. Since that is a relatively new area, fitting in the field of public policies and culture, knowledge and educational practices, it was, in some way, a challenge to adjust and to establish the research methodology. It was established a connection with several theories that permeate and harmonize with cultural studies, curriculum and knowledge. The epistemology of the new emergent paradigm contends that work. The emergent paradigm comprehends the existence of interconnections both among the objects, as well as between the subject and the object and allows to think over and to propose (again) a conception of processes, either formative or educationally inclusive, which consider the human being in its entirety. The ethnographic qualitative research methodology characterized the whole work and the data was performed using semi-structured interviews, observation and video recording. The content analysis was the technique used for discussion of the results. The research was constituted on three steps: initially, a wide documental and bibliographic research about Brazilian Law 10639/03, the curricular guidelines for the study of African and Afrobrazilian history and culture and the official documents of curricular orientation which allowed to survey Brazilian panorama on the insertion of that Law in schools, in the teacher education (initial and continued education) and the propositions already presented for teaching. The second step, exploratory, about the concept and practice of that Law in their Science disciplines. This last step, research focus, the actions and teaching resources actions covered by official documents in basic education in some content of biochemistry. It was concluded that the incorporation of cultural values and knowledge, original from Africa, is perfectly possible and executable in Chemistry contents in all levels of teaching and can be incorporated to the curricula and political-pedagogic projects of the schools, aiming at connecting the present knowledge in the field.
