13. Spatial Variability of Soil Properties in Archeological Dark Earth Sites under Cacao Cultivation
ABSTRACT Soils with an A horizon formed by human activity, an anthropogenic A horizon, are found in the Amazon Region. Few studies have examined the spatial distribution of the properties of these soils. We mapped the spatial variability of some soil properties in an area of Archaeological Dark Earth (ADE) in the Brazilian Amazon. A sampling grid was defined

14. Estudios bioarqueológicos en el sitio Los Tres Cerros 1 (Delta Superior del río Paraná, Entre Ríos, Argentina)
Abstract: In this paper we present the results from bioarchaeological studies of human skeletal remains recovered at Los Tres Cerros 1 site (Victoria department, Entre Ríos, Argentina), an anthropogenic mound occupied between 1227 and 560 years BP by hunter-gatherer-fishers and horticulturist societies, ascribed to the archaeological entity Goya-Malabrigo.

16. Treponematoses e outras paleopatologias em sítios arqueológicos pré-históricos do litoral sul e sudeste do Brasil / Treponematoses and other paleopathologies in prehistoric archaeological sites in the south and southeastern coast of Brazil

Located in the Xingu, Araguaia and Tocantins Rivers watershed, the Cateté River region has a longstanding history of indigenous settlements. Such history was recorded through archaeological sites where fragments of pottery connected to the Incised Rim and Barrancoid traditions were found - the sites date back as far as 190 AD, and are related to the expansi

A estrutura e composição de comunidades microbianas (Bacteria e Archaea) em fragmentos de carvão pirogênico de Terra Preta de Índio da Amazônia Central / Structure and composition of bacterial communities (Bacteria and Archaea) in fragments of pyrogenic charcoal from Amazonian Dark Earth in the Central Amazon
Amazonian Dark Earth (ADE), also known as Terra Preta de Índio, present tropical A horizon, high pH, important nutrients for plant growth, high pyrogenic charcoal levels and intense biological activity when compared to its soil of origin. Soil microbial community is essential for ecosystem function, which is involved in fundamental processes such as the dec

Anthropogenic Dark Earth (ADE) is considered one of the world\ s most fertile soils and receives this name because it originated from human action, probably by pre-Columbian populations who lived in these archaeological sites. Because of the common trend in agriculture towards sustainability antibiotic-producing bacteria is an alternative for biocontrol to p

20. Análise da dispersão das populações nativas americanas: uma abordagem genético-fisiográfica / Dispersion analysis of the native american populations: a genetic-fisiographyc approach
Until recently, the settlement of the Americas was seen as the product of a \"bow wave\" human expansion from north do south. Under this scenario, the archaeological sites of the first americans should obey a chronological gradient following the same logic, independent of their longitude. Recently, however, specialists began to recognize that certain charact

23. Possible influence of the ENSO phenomenon on the pathoecology of diphyllobothriasis and anisakiasis in ancient Chinchorro populations
Current clinical data show a clear relationship between the zoonosis rates of Diphyllobothrium pacificum and Anisakis caused by the El Niño Southern Oscillations (ENSO) phenomenon along the Chilean coast. These parasites are endemic to the region and have a specific habitat distribution. D. pacificum prefers the warmer waters in the northern coast, while An
