1. First high-altitude record of Bucculatrix mirnae Vargas and Moreira (Lepidoptera, Bucculatricidae) on a newly documented host plant: the importance of host plant distribution for conservation on the western slopes of the Andes mountains of northern Chile
ABSTRACT Bucculatrix mirnae Vargas and Moreira, 2012 (Lepidoptera, Bucculatricidae) is a micromoth native to the coastal valleys of the Atacama Desert previously known to occur only in the type locality of the Azapa Valley, close to sea level. 3. Molecular characterization of the polyphenol oxidase gene in lulo (Solanum quitoense Lam.) var. Castilla
Lulo (Solanum quitoense Lam.) is an exotic fruit from the Andes Mountains with a high export potential. However, the browning that is produced during harvest and the postharvest processes alters the organoleptic and nutritional properties of this fruit, which has made its management as a fresh fruit difficult. The browning processes are regulated by the enzy

5. Morphological variation and mitochondrial DNA diversity in natural populations of Dendropsophus minutus (Anura: Hylidae) / Variabilidade genetica e relações interpopulacionais de Dendropsophus minutus do Brasil
In despite of its complex reproductive behavior, Dendropsophus minutus has a large distribution at East of Andes, South America and show high acoustic and morphologic diversity, suggesting that possibly more than one species may exist under this name. Its dorsum coloration has basically two main patterns, hourglass or bivittata. Here, 14 morphometric paramet

7. "From freeze with moths": first discovery of a habitat in Andean Salars for noctuid moths
Noctuid moths flutter in the high Andes nights at 4,000 m. s. n. m. Their larvae feed on aerial or underground parts of succulent plants. Many of these species are new to science. Strategies and adaptations of the moths for survival in the high Andes mountains are: a circulatory system that includes an abdominal thoracic countercurrent heat exchanger, and th
