1. The Contribution of Meteorological Parameters and the COVID-19 Partial Lockdown on Air Quality in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
This study evaluated the pollutant levels (NO2, SO2, CO, and O3), air quality index (AQI) and the influence of meteorological variables and coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic on the air quality in Rio de Janeiro. The data set used comprises periods before (March-April, 2019) and during pandemic (March-April, 2020). According to the AQI results, on most

2. Forced-air warming and continuous core temperature monitoring with zero-heat-flux thermometry during cesarean section: a retrospective observational cohort study
Abstract Background: Over 30% of parturients undergoing spinal anesthesia for cesarean section become intraoperatively hypothermic. This study assessed the magnitude of hypothermic insult in parturients and newborns using continuous, high-resolution thermometry and evaluated the efficiency of intraoperative forced-air warming for prevention of hypothermia.

3. Simulation of Current Pulses and Sound Waves Resulting from Partial Discharges in a Needle-Plane Geometry in Air
Abstract Partial discharges can occur in different types of electric equipment and cause progressive insulation deterioration, so there is interest in monitoring partial discharges for assessing the state of the isolation of an electric system and to predict failures. Techniques to detect partial discharges, such as detecting ultrasonic emission, have been p

4. Quantification of Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4), and Nitrous Oxide (N2O) Using Near Infrared Spectroscopy and Multivariate Calibration in High Humidity Levels
In this work we developed a promising analytical method combining Fourier transform near-infrared (FT-NIR) spectroscopic technique and first-order multivariate calibration using partial least-squares (PLS) model to simultaneously quantify the main greenhouse gases (GHG’s): methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrous oxide (N2O) and water vapor (H2O). 5. VOLUMETRIC CAPNOGRAPHY FOR RESPIRATORY MONITORING OF PATIENTS DURING ROUTINE COLONOSCOPY WITH ROOM-AIR AND CARBON DIOXIDE INSUFFLATION

Cities urbanization and modernization increase emission sources, contributing to particulate matter (PM) composition heterogeneity and enhance the risk to human health and environment. This paper intends to survey the studies on particulate matter carried out in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The sampling of PM is generally made using Hi-Vol samplers to collec

7. Monitoring Pyricularia sp. airborne inoculum in Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil

8. Spatial pattern of the environmental exposure to tin in the vicinity of an alloy industry in Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil

10. REGULATED AIR POLLUTANT EMISSIONS FROM HIGHER EMITTERS STATIONARY SOURCES IN BELO HORIZONTE, MINAS GERAIS, BRAZIL
Abstract Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais state, is a highly urbanized city located in the third largest metropolitan area of Brazil, being one of the most important cities in the country. There are several potential air pollutant emission sources in the studied area, such as industry and the vehicular fleet (1,669,884 vehicles in 2015). These can aff

11. Lime Addition Effect on Corrosion of Reinforced Mortar
ABSTRACT This study aims to investigate the effect of lime addition in cement mortar on corrosion resistance of carbon and galvanized steel reinforcements. Mixed mortars were studied containing three contents of lime (6.7, 13.3, and 26.3 wt.%). The water retention, incorporated air, and compression strength of reinforced mortars were determined. 12. CH4 and CO2 monitoring in the air of underground coal mines in southern Brazil and GHG emission estimation
Abstract This study aims to assess methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations in the ventilation systems of two coal mines (A and B) in the Santa Catarina coal deposit in southern Brazil (Paraná Basin, Bonito Formation), and estimate their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The highest CH4 levels (1.8%) were recorded in strong methane emanation area
