RESUMO
The SMEs, because of the limitation both of their resources and their capacity for development, tend in general to adopt informal strategic actions, driven primarily by the influence of internal and external actors, aiming at the expansion of its space in the market, by means of offering products and services with better quality than the competitors. These features summarize the reality of the surveyed companies, both engaged in pieces of furniture area (SAVA MÓVEIS and Grupo SÃO ROMÃO), in Belo Horizonte - MG, whose work is particularly directed to the search for access and use of information about their external environment, as a condition for broaden the efficiency and effectiveness of its business. Their managers show an inventive and adaptive behavior, combined with their ability to learn and to complement the expertise of each other. The research intended essentially to compare the kind of influence of their internal and external stakeholders, looking for similarities and differences. Concerning methodology, the study can be classified as a qualitative study of multicases of exploratory nature. As a result, it was possible to conclude that the influence of the stakeholders was vital to the creation and development of both SMEs. It became evident that the internal actors tend to influence the strategic process predominantly in an effective and informative / defining way, while the external influence has been more informative / selective and potencial, according to classification created to facilitate the interpretation and organization of data, aiming at the achievement of intended goals
