1. Use of Inert Gases for the Preservation of Nuclear Blood Cells
Abstract The subject of the study was the stability of human white blood cell membranes subject to noble gases (xenon ad krypton, 0.6 mPa) clathrate cryoanabiosis (‒80°C). A unique portable stainless steel low pressure container with a compartment for flexible plastic container was designed to ensure that the cells are saturated with gases. The samples we

2. Optimal hydrated lime concentration in asphalt binder to improve photo degradation resistance
Abstract The effect of short-term oxidation, evaluated by using a Rolling Thin Film Oven Test, and the effect of weathering aging on the oxidation process of hydrated lime modified asphalts were studied. Hydrated lime (HL) has been known as an additive for asphalt mixtures and is now considered as a binder additive that increases asphalt mixture durability.

3. Antibacterial and Microstructure Properties of Titanium Surfaces Modified with Ag-Incorporated Nanotube Arrays
Although titanium (Ti) and its alloys have been widely used as implants in clinical settings, failures still occur mainly due to poor bioactivity and implant-associated infections. Here, we coated Ti implants with TiO2 nanotubes (TNTs) incorporated with the antibacterial agent Ag to produce Ag-TNTs, through anodization in AgNO3 and xenon light irradiation. W

4. Evaluation of hemodynamic effects of xenon in dogs undergoing hemorrhagic shock
OBJECTIVES: The anesthetic gas xenon is reported to preserve hemodynamic stability during general anesthesia. However, the effects of the gas during shock are unclear. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of Xe on hemodynamic stability and tissue perfusion in a canine model of hemorrhagic shock. METHOD: Twenty-six dogs, mechanically ventila

A resina compos

6. Variational calculation of low-energy positron life time in Xe atoms
The least-squares variational method (LSVM) is used for determining trial wavefunctions representing low-energy positron-xenon elastic scattering, which are used to determine the positron lifetime. The trial function is taken to depend on several adjustable parameters, and is improved iteratively by increasing the number of terms. The bound state wavefunctio

7. Effect of light-curing method and indirect veneering materials on the Knoop hardness of a resin cement
This study evaluated the Knoop hardness of a dual-cured resin cement (Rely-X ARC) activated solely by chemical reaction (control group) or by chemical / physical mode, light-cured through a 1.5 mm thick ceramic (HeraCeram) or composite (Artglass) disc. Light curing was carried out using conventional halogen light (XL2500) for 40 s (QTH); light emitting diode

8. Propriedades eletronicas e estruturais do xenonio implantado em silicio amorfo / Electronic and structural properties of xenon in amophous silocon

9. Análise fotocondutiva de estruturas fotovoltaicas baseadas em TiO2 e poli(3-hexiltiofeno) / Photoconductivity analysis of photovoltaic structures based on TiO2 and poly(3-hexylthiophene)
In this work we investigated electronic transport phenomena in an ITO/TiO2/RRP3HT/Al structure using photoconductivity spectral response when devices were illuminated either by the ITO electrode or by the aluminum. RRP3HT is the regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene), a polymer that exhibits a relatively strong photovoltaic activity. RRP3HT were dissolved in a

11. Influence of the curing method on the post-polymerization shrinkage stress of a composite resin
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different curing methods on the stress generated by the polymerization shrinkage of a restorative composite in two moments: immediately after light exposure and after 5 min. Photoactivation was performed using two different light sources: (1) xenon plasma arc (PAC) light (1,500 mW/cm2 - 3s) and (2) a quartz
