13. Flexural Wave Band Gaps in Phononic Crystal Euler-Bernoulli Beams Using Wave Finite Element and Plane Wave Expansion Methods
We investigate theoretically and experimentally the forced response of flexural waves propagating in a 1D phononic crystal (PC) Euler-Bernoulli beam, composed by steel and polyethylene, and its band structure. The finite element, spectral element, wave finite element, wave spectral element, conventional and improved plane wave expansion methods are applied.

14. Assembly and Testing of a Thermal Control Component Developed in Brazil
ABSTRACT: The optical solar reflector is basically a mirror of second surface with low absorptivity/emissivity ratio and negligible degradation in the space environment, which makes it an excellent coating for thermal control of satellites. It works as a radiator and is used in particular parts of the external surfaces of the satellites in order to reject th

15. Performance and Wake Analysis of Rotors in Axial Flight Using Computational Fluid Dynamics
ABSTRACT: Flow field around rotors in axial flight is known to be complex especially in steep descent where the rotor is operating inside its own wake. It is often reported that, in this flight condition, the rotor is susceptible to severe wake interactions causing unsteady blade load, severe vibration, loss of performance, as well as poor control and handli

16. Tip Deflection Determination of a Barrel for the Effect of an Accelerating Projectile Before Firing Using Finite Element and Artificial Neural Network Combined Algorithm
Abstract For realistic applications, design and control engineers have limited modelling options in dealing with some vibration problems that hold many nonlinearity such as non-uniform geometry, variable velocity loadings, indefinite damping cases, etc. For these reasons numerous time consuming experimental studies at high costs must be done for determining

17. Effects of vibration therapy in the musculoskeletal system in post-surgical breast cancer women: longitudinal controlled clinical study
Abstract: Introduction The biomechanical changes that arise after breast cancer increase the need for new rehabilitation programs. The aim of this study was to evaluate medium- and long-term effects of vibration therapy on pain intensity, range of motion, myoelectric activity, and muscle strength of post-surgical breast cancer women. Methods This controlle

18. Kelvin Viscoelasticity and Lagrange Multipliers Applied to the Simulation of Nonlinear Structural Vibration Control
Abstract This study proposes a new pure numerical way to model mass / spring / damper devices to control the vibration of truss structures developing large displacements. It avoids the solution of local differential equations present in traditional convolution approaches to solve viscoelasticity. The structure is modeled by the geometrically exact Finite Ele

19. Consideration of Spillover Effect in Active Vibration Suppression of a Smart Composite Plate Using Piezoelectric Elements
Abstract In this paper, the problem of vibration suppression of a smart composite plate with bonded piezoelectric patches is considered. A higher order plate model is used for finite element modeling of the plate and the PID controller is used to generate control voltage command to the piezo actuators from the piezo sensors data. Derived formulation and the

20. Control of a Support Excitation Smart Beam Subjected to a Follower Force with Piezoelectric Sensors/Actuators
Abstract In this paper, an active control is used to suppress the flutter vibration of a support excitation beam subjected to a follower force, using piezoelectric sensors/actuators. The beam is fixed to a motion support from one end and the other end is subjected to a follower force. The governing equations of motion are derived based on the generalized fun

21. The effects of whole body vibration in patients with type 2 diabetes: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
Background: Whole body vibration (WBV) has been used to increase physical activity levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Objective: To carry out a systematic review of the effects of WBV on the glycemic control, cardiovascular risk factors, and physical and functional capacity of patients with T2DM. Method: MEDLINE, LILACS, PEDro, and

22. Whole-body vibration improves fracture healing and bone quality in rats with ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis
PURPOSE: To investigate the effect of vibration therapy on the bone callus of fractured femurs and the bone quality of intact femurs in ovariectomized rats. METHODS: Fifty-six rats aged seven weeks were divided into four groups: control with femoral fracture (CON, n=14), ovariectomized with femoral fracture (OVX, n=14), control with femoral fracture plus v

23. Iso-velocity maps. A vibration control tool in quarries
Urban growth around mining areas has brought problems such as neighborhood's discomfort due to blasting vibrations, which can cause structural damage to the houses, dust and atmospheric overpressure. In Brazil, environmental restrictions are increasingly rigorous and seismic monitoring is required as an environmental control measure. This study aims to analy

24. Dynamic analysis and vibration control of a multi-body system using MSC Adams
AbstractIn this paper, modelling and simulation of a multi-body system for its vibration control using sensors and actuators is presented. The model developed on MSC ADAMS consists of six legs connecting moving and base plates using spherical joints with axial rotation of legs constrained. It contains linear actuator collocated with force sensor. Mathematica
