2. The Role of Heart Team Approach in Penetrating Cardiac Trauma: Case Report and Review of the Literature
Abstract Penetrating cardiac trauma has been increasing in clinical experience and is joined to important morbidity and mortality. A case of a 38-year-old female with history of postpartum depression was reported, admitted to our department for cardiac tamponade due to penetrating self-inflicted multiple stab wound of the chest complicated by rupture of ante

3. Surgery for Tetralogy of Fallot in Adults: Early Outcomes
Abstract Objective: To study the in-hospital outcome of adult patients who had undergone surgical repair for Tetralogy of Fallot. Methods: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology searching the hospital records. All those adult patients who had undergone repair for Tetralogy of Fallot from January 2012 to Decemb

4. Disfunção ventricular no pós-operatório da intervenção cirúrgica para correção dos defeitos congênitos da Tetralogia de Fallot: estudo de correção clínica e anatomopatológica / Ventricular dysfunction after the surgical repair of Fallot´s tetralogy: a clinical and anatomopathological study
It was investigate prospectively the histopathological myocardial remodeling in children submitted to surgical repair of Fallots tetralogy, in order to detect possible factors associated to postoperative (PO) echocardiographic findings of systolic or diastolic ventricular dysfunction. Patients and Methods: 23 consecutive Fallot patients (14 males), aged 12 t

5. Caracterização das funções do gene ring finger 4 na embriogênese cardíaca
Cardiac diseases, whether congenital or acquired, show a high mortality rate worldwide and in Brazil, they represent the major cause in natural deaths with 29.9% of the cases. The social and economical impact of those pathologies on the Brazilian Public Health System is particularly worsened due to the lack of resources and the need to optimize the scarce re

6. Efetividade clínica e segurança do tratamento percutâneo da comunicação interatrial tipo ostium secundum com a prótese Amplatzer / Efficacy and safety of percutaneous treatment of the secundum atrial septal defect with the Amplatzer® prosthesis
Percutaneous closure of the secundum atrial septal defect has been employed as an alternative to surgical treatment. The present investigation evaluated the safety and efficacy of the Amplatzer. prosthesis in the treatment of such defects. For that, we assessed the presence and magnitude of immediate and follow-up residual shunting, the rate of technical suc

7. Corrected transposition of the great arteries with several associated anomalies in a 68-year-old patient
Few patients with corrected transposition of the great arteries survive past 50 years of age because of the association with congenital defects, development of total atrioventricular block, and right ventricular dysfunction. We report the case of a male patient with dextrocardia in situs solitus and corrected transposition of the great arteries associated wi

8. Total Correction of Double-Outlet Right Ventricle, Atrial Septal Defect, Pulmonic Stenosis with a Concordant Atrioventricular Relationship, Dextrocardia and Situs Inversus
Surgical correction of a rare type of double-outlet right ventricle was successfully carried out in a 20-year-old man. The malformation was associated with atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, pulmonic stenosis, a concordant atrioventricular relationship, and dextrocardia with situs inversus. A Teflon patch was sutured as a baffle in the right ve

9. TOTAL PHYSIOLOGIC CORRECTION OF TRICUSPID ATRESIA WITH ATRIAL SEPTAL DEFECT-VENTRICULAR SEPTAL DEFECT CLOSURE AND A RIGHT ATRIUM-RIGHT VENTRICLE NON-VALVED CONDUIT: CASE REPORT
An 18-year-old woman underwent total physiologic correction of tricuspid atresia (atrial septal defect-ventricular septal defect closure and a right atrium-right ventricle non-valved conduit). Postoperative studies documented excellent hemodynamic results. The patient remains asymptomatic 6 months after surgery.

10. Subaortic stenosis caused by an unusual fibrous blood-filled cyst of the left ventricle with outflow tract obstruction associated with a ventricular septal defect.
A large blood-filled cyst formed from a fibrous tissue tag of a right ventricular septal aneurysm was successfully resected. This cyst, which was causing subaortic stenosis, was attached to the margin of the closed ventricular septal defect and not to the mitral valve itself nor the papillary muscle of the left ventricle.

11. Left ventricle to pulmonary artery conduit in treatment of transposition of great arteries, restrictive ventricular septal defect, and acquired pulmonary atresia.
Progressive cyanosis after banding of the pulmonary artery in infancy occurred in a child with transposition of the great arteries and a ventricular septal defect, and a Blalock-Taussig shunt operation had to be performed. At the time of correction a segment of pulmonary artery between the left ventricle and the band was found to be completely occluded so th

12. Double outlet right ventricle. Study of 27 cases.
Out of 1610 children's hearts with congenital malformations there were 27 specimens showing double outlet right ventricle. Cases with dextrocardia, situs inversus, or l-venticular loop were excluded. Anatomical examination was performed with particular reference to the infundibular region, the great vessels, and the ventricular septum. The commonest associat
