2. Optically Detected Thermal Effects in Rare-Earth Doped Materials for Host Characterization, Thermometric Devices, Nanothermometry and Biothermometry
We present a review of recent works on optically investigated thermal effects in crystalline and amorphous materials doped with trivalent rare-earth (RE) ions. The paper describes how the frequency upconversion (UC) photoluminescence (PL) technique is used to investigate the thermal behavior of samples and how to perform optical measurements of temperature.

3. Photo-Induced conductivity of heterojunction GaAs/Rare-Earth doped SnO2
Rare-earth doped (Eu3+ or Ce3+) thin layers of tin dioxide (SnO2) are deposited by the sol-gel-dip-coating technique, along with gallium arsenide (GaAs) films, deposited by the resistive evaporation technique. The as-built heterojunction has potential application in optoelectronic devices, because it may combine the emission from the rare-earth-doped transpa

DEVELOPMENT OF A METHODOLOGY FOR THE SEPARATION OF EUROPIUM AND SAMARIUM FROM A MIXTURE OF RARE EARTH OXIDES BY ELECTROREDUCTION/PRECIPITATION / "Desenvolvimento de uma metodologia para a separação de Samário e Európio a partir de mistura de óxidos de Terras Raras por redução eletroquímica/ precipitação"
The rare earths (RE) were first used in 1903, when Welsbach developed a lighter that is still used today. Nowadays, the RE are employed in many different fields, as in the production of super-alloys , as catalysts for petroleum industry, in the manufacture of non-ferrous alloys, color television tubes, x-ray screens, special glasses, ceramics, computer indus

10. Preparação e caracterização do Sistema polifosfato misto contendo o ion Erbio
According to available published data, antimony polyphosphates have not attracted much attention from researchers. Currently polyphosphates of trivalent elements, including those of lanthanides, are widely employed in glasses suitable for light transmission within the region of telecommunication windows. In this case, the combination of antimony and rare ear

12. Influence of rare earths on the properties and catalytic activity of the Y / Influência de terras raras nas propriedades e atividade catalitica da zeólita Y
The Y zeolites containing calcium and rare earth polivalent cations, RE,Ca/NaY (RE = La, Ce, Nd, Eu, Gd), were prepared by ion exchange, refluxing the NaY zeolite (Si/Al = 2,4) with calcium chloride and rare earth chloride solutions, followed by thermal treatment under nitrogen flow. The trivalent hydrated rare earth ions undergo hydrolysis, forming [RE.OH]2
