25. The Influence of a Translucent Fiberglass Post on the Polymerization of Dual Cure Resin Cement Analyzed by Electron Paramagnetic Resonance
AbstractElectron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) was used as an alternative method to study the conversion degree of dual cure resin cement and verify the influence of prefabricated translucent fiberglass post on the dual cure resin cement polymerization at different restoration points. The post cementation of White Post DC (FGM, Joinville, SC, Brasil) was simu

26. Fabrication of Cathode Materials Based on Limn2o4/Cnt and Lini0.5mn1.5o4/Cnt Nanocomposites for Lithium – Ion Batteries Application
AbstractCarbon nanotubes (CNTs) are a promising candidate material for use in lithium batteries due to 1D tubular structure, high electrical, thermal conductivities, and extremely large surface area. In this work, the MWCNTs were purified by dispersion in a mixture of HNO3 and H2SO4acids. The oxidized-MWCNTs were used as conducting addition to prepare a nano

27. Polyurethane/Poly(2-(Diethyl Amino)Ethyl Methacrylate) blend for drug delivery applications
AbstractA pH-sensitive blend of polyurethane (PU) and poly(2-(diethyl amino)ethyl methacrylate (PDEA) with good film-forming capacity was prepared from the corresponding aqueous dispersions. The polymer matrix was first characterized by using FTIR, DSC, water vapor transmission and water swelling capacity at different pHs. The drug release profile of films w

28. Feeding habits of mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) in an area of sylvatic transmission of yellow fever in the state of São Paulo, Brazil
AbstractBackground The reintroduction of sylvatic yellow fever in the state of São Paulo after about six decades was confirmed in the Northwestern region in 2000, where in 2008 there also occurred an important epizootic. The purpose of this study was to investigate the feeding habits of culicids potentially involved in the sylvatic transmission of the virus

29. Selective Determination of 2,4,6-Trinitrotoluene in Water Samples Based on Magnetic Imprinted Nanoparticles via Grafting Polymerization
The magnetic surface imprinted polymer was effectively synthesized based on grafting polymerization for selective determination of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) as template molecule. The "grafting to" procedure was performed by copolymerizing of vinyl modified magnetic substrate with methacrylic acid (MAA) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) as function

30. She’s a femme fatale: low-density larval development produces good disease vectors
Two hypotheses for how conditions for larval mosquitoes affect vectorial capacity make opposite predictions about the relationship of adult size and frequency of infection with vector-borne pathogens. Competition among larvae produces small adult females. The competition-susceptibility hypothesis postulates that small females are more susceptible to infectio

31. Is there an efficient trap or collection method for sampling Anopheles darlingi and other malaria vectors that can describe the essential parameters affecting transmission dynamics as effectively as human landing catches? - A Review
Distribution, abundance, feeding behaviour, host preference, parity status and human-biting and infection rates are among the medical entomological parameters evaluated when determining the vector capacity of mosquito species. To evaluate these parameters, mosquitoes must be collected using an appropriate method. Malaria is primarily transmitted by anthropop

32. Adsorption of a textile dye from aqueous solutions by carbon nanotubes
Multi-walled and single-walled carbon nanotubes were used as adsorbents for the removal of Reactive Blue 4 textile dye from aqueous solutions. The adsorbents were characterised using Raman spectroscopy, N2 adsorption/desorption isotherms and scanning and transmission electron microscopy. The effects of pH, agitation time and temperature on adsorption capacit

33. Spectrally-efficient 17.6-Tb/s DWDM optical transmission system over 678 km with pre-filtering analysis
We present and analyze a 17.6-Tb/s DWDM optical transmission composed of 79 channels with 224-Gb/s RZ-DP-16QAM modulation format per-channel and coherent detection. A maximum reach of 678 km is obtained with an optical recirculation loop composed by 226 km of pure-silica core fibers and EDFA amplification only in a 50-GHz grid system with spectral efficiency

34. Horizontal transmission and effect of the temperature in pathogenicity of Beauveria bassiana against Diatraea saccharalis (Lepidoptera: Crambidae)
The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of temperature on the pathogenicity of Beauveria bassiana against Diatraea saccharalis and evaluate the horizontal transmission capacity among the sugarcane borer larvae. The strains were most pathogenic at 26ºC, followed by 32ºC than at 20ºC, with respective mortalities of 100, 50 and 30.3%. The lethal time

36. The effect of TTNT nanotubes on hydrogen sorption using MgH2
Nanotubes are promising materials to be used with magnesium hydride, as catalysts, in order to enhance hydrogen sorption. A study was performed on the hydrogen absorption/desorption properties of MgH2 with the addition of TTNT (TiTanate NanoTubes). The MgH2-TTNT composite was prepared by ball milling and the influence of the TTNT amount (1.0 and 5.0 wt. (%))
