25. Electrodeposition of Gold Films from a Glycerol Solution on Carbon Paste Electrode and the Effect of Chemical and Electrochemical Parameters of Electrodeposition on the Electrode Performance in Potassium Ferrocyanide Solution
The gold electrodeposition process from a glycerol solution on a carbon paste electrode (CPE) was investigated by voltammetry and the morphologies of the electrodeposits were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Voltammetric study indicated that AuCl4− was reduced to Au0 and the process was mixed controlled (mass transport and electron transfer)

26. MEASUREMENT AND CORRELATION OF THE MASS TRANSFER COEFFICIENT FOR A LIQUID-LIQUID SYSTEM WITH HIGH DENSITY DIFFERENCE
Abstract To investigate the mass transfer behavior of a liquid-liquid system with high density difference (∆ρ≈500 kg/m3), single drop experiments were performed by using the ternary chloroform-ethanol-water system. The mass transfer direction was from the dispersed phase to the continuous phase, while the aqueous phase was dispersed in chloroform to gen

27. Rate of spontaneous voiding recovery after acute urinary retention due to bed rest in the hospital setting in a non-urological population clinical study of the relationship between lower limbs and bladder function
Abstract Objectives To understand the clinical relationship between lower limbs functions and the recovery of spontaneous voiding after an acute urinary retention (AUR) in older patients admitted to hospitals for non-urological causes using clinical parameters. Materials and Methods 56 adult patients (32 men; mean age: 77.9 ± 8.3 and 24 women; mean age 82

28. Application of optimization for improvement of the efficiency of louvered-fin compact heat exchangers
Abstract A few decades ago, the product development process was just based on a trial and error procedure, and the designer's experience. The need for a new way to design and manufacture more economical and sustainable products corroborates increasingly to a new vision of how to create new products for the benefit of society. Modern numerical tools allow gre

29. Biosensor Based on Cysteine Monolayer and Monoclonal Antibody for Specific Detection of Aflatoxin B1 in Rice
An electrochemical immunosensor for detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in food samples was developed. The sensor is composed by cysteine monolayer immobilized on gold electrode surface with subsequent bind to monoclonal antibody (MAb-Cys-modified electrode). The AFB1 detection was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy in the frequency rang

30. DOES RECTUS FEMORIS TRANSFER INCREASE KNEE FLEXION DURING STANCE PHASE IN CEREBRAL PALSY?
ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate whether distal rectus femoris transfer (DRFT) is related to postoperative increase of knee flexion during the stance phase in cerebral palsy (CP). Methods: The inclusion criteria were Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) levels I-III, kinematic criteria for stiff-knee gait at baseline, and individuals who und

31. Short hairpin RNA targeting insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 restores the bioavailability of insulin-like growth factor-1 in diabetic rats
ABSTRACT Purpose To investigate whether intracavernosal injection of short hairpin RNA for IGFBP-3 could improve erectile function in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Materials and methods After 12 weeks of IGFBP-3 short hairpin RNA injection treatment, intracavernous pressure responses to electrical stimulation of cavernous nerves were evaluated. T

32. Simple Formulae for Control of Industrial Time Delay Systems
Abstract Control of time delay integrating systems is a challenging and on-going research. In this paper a new structure for control of stable and integrating time delay systems is presented. The control design process is as simple as selection of some constant gains, for which simple formulae are introduced. The design methods are derived analytically, whil

33. Dynamic analysis and vibration control of a multi-body system using MSC Adams
AbstractIn this paper, modelling and simulation of a multi-body system for its vibration control using sensors and actuators is presented. The model developed on MSC ADAMS consists of six legs connecting moving and base plates using spherical joints with axial rotation of legs constrained. It contains linear actuator collocated with force sensor. Mathematica

34. Maximum Power Transfer versus Efficiency in Mid-Range Wireless Power Transfer Systems
AbstractThe condition for maximum power transfer of 2-coils wireless power transfer (WPT) system is derived from circuit analysis and discussed together with the respective WPT system efficiency (η). In the sequence, it is shown that a 4-coils WPT system (which can be divided in source, two communication and load circuits) without power losses at the two co

35. Semi-analytical formulation for a Unified Time and Frequency Antenna Characterization
AbstractThe definition of parameters that characterize the radiation of electric and magnetic fields for antennas in the time and frequency domain on an unified representation is proposed. The formulation uses a straightforward semi-analytical formulation that can be subsequently applied on the analysis of excited antennas for an arbitrary source with tempor

36. EFFECT OF ROTATION RATES ON THE LAMINAR FLOW AND HEAT TRANSFER PAST A CIRCULAR CYLINDER
AbstractIn this work, forced convection heat transfer past a rotating circular cylinder with a constant non-dimensional rotation rate α varying from 0 to 6 was investigated for Reynolds numbers of 20-200 and a Prandtl number of 0.7. The numerical calculations are carried out by using a finite-volume method based commercial computational fluid dynamics solve
