13. Resection of thyroid carcinoma infiltrating the trachea.
We have treated surgically 11 patients with thyroid carcinoma that had infiltrated into the trachea. Three patients had primary tumours, and eight had recurrent tumours after previous operations. Sleeve resection of trachea was performed where thyroid carcinoma had proliferated; the trachea was reconstructed by end-to-end anastomosis. In two patients 10 ring

14. Neural and visceral xanthomatosis in adults
The clinical, pathological, and chemical findings in a fatal case of generalized Hand-Schüller-Christian disease in a man of 33 years are presented in case 1. The necropsy examination revealed granulomatous infiltration of the infra-orbital fat, the pituitary stalk, and the posterior lobe of the pituitary and also of the skull bones and the thyroid cartilag

15. Enhancement of somatomedin titers of normal and hypopituitary sera by addition of L-triiodothyronone in vitro at physiological concentrations.
Somatomedin potencies of sera were assayed by following sulfation of mucopolysaccharides in chick embryo sterna in vitro. Apparent potencies of sera from hypophysectomized rats, maintained on a low-iodine diet, were restored to levels above normal by addition to the incubation medium of L-triiodothyronine at 10-7 mol/liter of serum. The potencies of normal r

16. An anatomical and endoscopic study of the nasopharynx and larynx of the donkey (Equus asinus).
Using histological techniques, anatomical dissection, fibre optic endoscopy and radiography, the nasopharynx and larynx of the donkey were examined and described. Compared with horses, donkeys have a much deeper pharyngeal recess extending 4.0-6.0 cm caudally from a constricted orifice, through which it communicates with the nasopharynx. Movements of the mem
