ABSTRACT The Spanish Civil War made a strong impact in the Argentine public sphere. Specially in a city like Rosario, with an important part of its population being immigrants, and with an active associative life based on ethnicity. In this context of ideologic polarization and confrontation, immigrant centers echoed the conflicts in Europe, and also the struggles and conflicts of interests in the local society.
