Abstract In this article, we will discuss how the evocation of the imagery of the Constitutional Revolution of 1932 in the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo would provide new symbolic meanings to their aspirations for influencing the political crisis of the second government of Getulio Vargas (1951-1954). This evocation would habilitate the newspaper to return to the antigetulista fighting against a "dictatorship", neglecting the democratic framework in which the second government of Vargas developed.
