The intracellular parasite Trypanosoma cruzi is the aetiological agent of Chagas disease, a public health concern with an increasing incidence rate. This increase is due, among other reasons, to the parasite’s drug resistance mechanisms, which require nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+).
