1. Study and Optimization of Raman Amplifiers in Tellurite-Based Optical Fibers for Wide-Band Telecommunication Systems
Abstract Here we present a numerical analysis and the optimization of a multi-pump discrete Raman amplification system based on the use of a Tellurite optical fiber as the gain media. By using previously reported optimization techniques we were able to exploit the high Raman gain of Tellurite optical fibers and its multipeak spectrum to achieve amplification

2. ANALYTICAL COMPARISON OF THE PERFORMANCE OF ADAPTIVE MODULATION AND CODING IN WIRELESS NETWORK UNDER RAYLEIGH FADING
Abstract In this paper, an analytic comparison between adaptive modulation (AdM) and adaptive Forward Error Correction (AdFEC) in wireless network telecommunication systems is performed. Through the Gilbert-Elliott model's, the Packet Error Rate (PER) is calculated and both the throughput and the delay, for different modulations and error correction capacity

3. Heuristics for the optimized deployment of small cells in next-generation networks
Abstract Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets) have been introduced as an alternative means of improving the overall network capacity. However, HetNets increase the complexity and cost of transport due to the large number of smallcells (SCs) that have to be connected, and hence, it is essential to investigate the best way to plan the joint deployment of radio and

4. Two-dimensional packing problems in telecommunications
We present the transcript of the IFORS distinguished lecture delivered by the author on invitation of SOBRAPO and IFORS. The lecture concerned the development of an interdisciplinary research motivated by an application in mobile telecommunication systems, a project jointly developed by four research teams. The presentation follows the typical steps of a cla

5. Modelo distribuído para agregação de armazenamento em redes de sensores sem fio=Distributed model for storage aggregation in wireless sensor networks / Distributed model for storage aggregation in wireless sensor networks
Storage management of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is a very critical issue in terms of system s lifetime. While WSNs host a vast storage capacity on the aggregate, that capacity cannot be used entirely. Eventually, the entire network may fail when the first sensor has its own storage capacity depleted, leaving behind a large amount of unutilized storage c

6. Planejamento e gerenciamento de recursos para redes IEEE 802.16 baseadas em rádio sobre fibra / Resource planning and management for IEEE 802.16 networks based on radio over fiber
The Radio over Fiber technology allows the reduction of the cost of installation and maintenance of wireless access networks, since it can allow an optimized use of radio frequency (RF). Moreover, it employs simplified and inexpensive antennas. The IEEE 802.16 wireless networks, known as WiMAX, are low cost solutions for the last mile access to the Internet.

A flexibilidade

8. NCL-INSPECTOR. UMA FERRAMENTA PARA INSPEÇÃO DE APLICAÇÕES NCL / NCL INSPECTOR. A NCL CODE INSPECTION TOOL
Ginga-NCL and the NCL language were selected as a recommendation as the interactive multimedia environment and language for IPTV by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). In order to promote the use of these technologies, it is necessary to create tools to help developing applications using NCL. At present, the support provided by tools for NCL dev

10. Phase distribution and correlated statistics in wireless environments : theory and experimental validation / Distribuição de fase e estatisticas correlacionadas em ambientes sem fio : teoria e validação experimental
