1. Propagation of waves in micropolar generalized thermoelastic materials with two temperatures bordered with layers or half-spaces of inviscid liquid
The aim of the present paper is to study the propagation of Lamb waves in micropolar generalized thermoelastic solids with two temperatures bordered with layers or half-spaces of inviscid liquid subjected to stress-free boundary conditions in the context of Green and Lindsay (G-L) theory. The secular equations for governing the symmetric and skew-symmetric l

2. El campo de las ciencias y la educación superior entre el monopolio del inglés y el plurilingüismo: elementos para una política del lenguaje en América Latina
The field of science and higher education presents a strategic space that clearly reflects some of the problems which spring from the globalisation of English as today's only hyper-central language: from a model of limited plurilingualism based on German, English, and French in the beginning of the XXth century, the field has moved to an almost absolute pred

3. Hipersuperfícies mínimas e completas de espaços simétricos / Complete minimal hipersurfaces in symmetric spaces

5. Reconstrução de estados de sistemas quanticos compostos e caracterização de emaranhamento por operações locais e comunicação classica / State reconstruction of composite quantum systems and entanglement characterization by local operations and classical communication
We propose a method to obtain properties of composite quantum systems using strictly local measurements and classical communication only. This differs from schemes usually employed in quantum information protocols where global and/or joint local operations are commonly used. Our treatment consists of analysing the effect of measurements of a system over subm

6. Semigroups generated by cosets and characteristics functions of semigroups / Semigrupos gerados por classes laterais e funções caracteristicas de semigrupos
This work is made of two parts. In the first one, we gave necessary and sufficient conditions for a family of cosets of a Lie subgroup to generate a subsemigroup with nonempty interior. We apply these conditions to symmetric pairs where the group is semi-simple. As a consequence we prove that for several involutive automorphisms the fixed points subgroup is

7. Thermodynamics of abelian forms in real compact hyperbolic spaces
We analyze gauge theories based on abelian p-forms in real compact hyperbolic manifolds. The explicit thermodynamic functions associated with skew-symmetric tensor fields are obtained via zeta-function regularization and the trace tensor kernel formula. Thermodynamic quantities in the high-temperature expansions are calculated and the entropy/energy ratios a

8. Classification of energy momentum tensors in n > 5 dimensional space-times: a review
Recent developments in string theory suggest that there might exist extra spatial dimensions, which are not small nor compact. The framework of a great number of brane cosmological models is that in which the matter fields are confined on a brane-world embedded in five dimensions (the bulk). Motivated by this we review the main results on the algebraic class

9. Maximal functions: Poisson integrals on symmetric spaces*
Let u be a harmonic function on a symmetric space which is the Poisson integral of a function f in Lp, 1 ≤ p ≤ ∞. Then u converges restrictedly and admissibly to f almost everywhere. This result is proved by obtaining an appropriate maximal theorem which takes into account the structure of the Poisson kernel.

10. Lp-multipliers for Noncompact Symmetric Spaces
Let G be a real noncompact semi-simple Lie group with finite center and K a maximal compact sub-group. The symmetric space M = G/K carries a measure invariant under the action of G. The operators which map Lp(M) continuously into itself and commute with the action of G, can be easily characterized when p = 2 or p = 1. This note gives some results on “singu

11. L2-cohomology of arithmetic varieties
The L2-cohomology of arithmetic quotients of bounded symmetric domains is studied. We establish the conjecture of Zucker equating the L2-cohomology of these spaces to the intersection cohomology of their Baily-Borel compactifications.

12. Metric rigidity theorems on Hermitian locally symmetric spaces
Let X = Ω/Γ be a compact quotient of an irreducible bounded symmetric domain Ω of rank ≥2 by a discrete group ω of automorphisms without fixed points. It is well known that the Kähler-Einstein metric g on X carries seminegative curvature (in the sense of Griffiths). I show that any Hermitian metric h on X carrying seminegative curvature must be a cons
