1. Synthesis of Antioxidant Additive from Safflower Seed Oil
Several published studies have evaluated the problems associated with the utilization of biodiesel obtained from safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) oil due to the low oxidative stability, caused by the high content of unsaturated fatty acids. Thus, this study aimed at the extraction of safflower seed oil and its use as an unsaturation source to obtain a syn

2. Serpentinites: Mineral Structure, Properties and Technological Applications
Serpentine is a versatile mineral family rich in Mg silicate with several polymorphic phases, mainly antigorite and lizardite, all of them with similar chemical composition (Mg3Si2O5(OH)4). Their structures are generally composed of octahedral layers rich in Mg[MgO2(OH)4]6- , attached to a tetrahedral silicate [Si2O5]2- sheet. The unique physicochemical prop

3. Frequency Selective Surface Properties of Microwave New Absorbing Porous Carbon Materials Embedded in Epoxy Resin
In this manuscript, the electromagnetic wave absorption properties of sustainable porous carbon composites were evaluated over the X-band frequency range (8.2 - 12.4 GHz). The porous carbon material was made from the byproduct of cellulose production and was used as additive on the development of radar absorbing material (RAM) composites. These porous carbon

4. Performance Analysis of X Band Horn Antennas using Additive Manufacturing Method Coated with Different Techniques
Abstract In this study are analyzed horn antennas to operating at X band (8 – 12 GHz) and manufactured by additive manufacturing method (AM). To construct the antennas using AM method was necessary made the structure with acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) thermoplastic using a 3D printer, and then coated the antennas with conductive surfaces. Were fabr

5. The Effect of Red Pigment and Photo Stabilizers on the Photo Degradation of Polypropylene Films
The aim of this work was to evaluate the photo degradation of PP films containing photo stabilizers, a ultraviolet absorber and a hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS), and a red pigment. The films were produced by extrusion and exposed to the UV radiation in the laboratory for up to 15 weeks. The results obtained from FTIR, UV-vis and colorimetry showed th

6. A new coumarin derivative, 4-acetatecoumarin, with antifungal activity and association study against Aspergillus spp.
Abstract Fungal infections have become a concern for health professionals, and the emergence of resistant strains has been reported for all known classes of antifungal drugs. Among the fungi causing disease, we highlight those that belong to the genus Aspergillus. For these reasons, the search for new antifungals is important. This study examines the effects

7. Perconditioning combined with postconditioning on kidney ischemia and reperfusion
Abstract Purpose: To evaluate if combination of perconditioning and postconditioning provides improved renal protection compared to perconditioning alone in a model of renal reperfusion injury. Methods: Thirty rats were assigned into 6 groups: normality; sham; ischemia and reperfusion; postconditioning; perconditioning; perconditioning + postconditioning.

8. Influence of additives on phase stabilization of scandia-doped zirconia
ABSTRACT The effects of small additions of tin, zinc, calcium and boron oxides on phase composition and electrical conductivity of zirconia-10 mol% scandia were investigated. Compounds containing 1 mol% zinc, tin and calcium oxides and 1, 3 and 5 wt.% boron oxide were prepared by solid state reaction and characterized by X-ray diffraction, density measuremen

9. Calcium Phosphate Coatings by Sol-Gel on Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene Substrate
Additive manufacture is an effective technology to produce complex macrostructures from polymers. Sol-gel is a chemical process that affords multifunctional materials by functionalization of different substrates. This work reports on the use of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene polymer (ABS) as starting material to obtain a substrate by additive manufacture. C

10. Continuum Structural Layout in Consideration of the Balance of the Safety and the Properties of Structures
Abstract In the article, a new approach considering structural local failure for topology optimization of continuum structure is proposed. It aims at not only lowering the risk of local failure in the concerned structural regions, but also ensuring a good stiffness of the structure. The local failure may be caused by the structural uncertainties or possible

11. Effects of Methylcellulose on the Properties and Morphology of Polysulfone Membranes Prepared by Phase Inversion
Polymer solutions of polysulfone (PSf) and methylcellulose (MC) in 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) were used to prepare ultrafiltration membranes by the phase inversion technique via immersion precipitation. The effect of MC additive on the structure and performances of the membranes was studied. The obtained membranes were characterized by scanning electron mi

12. Urease Inhibitors of Agricultural Interest Inspired by Structures of Plant Phenolic Aldehydes
The plant phenolic natural products (PNPs) protocatechuic aldehyde, syringaldehyde and vanillin were used as platforms for obtaining four urease inhibitors. Urea (urease substrate) or thiourea (urease inhibitor) core was added to the structure of newly synthesized compounds to provide inhibitors up to 230-fold more active than the PNPs they originated from.
