13. An analysis of parametric instability of risers
In this work, three catenary riser models subjected to harmonic oscillations are studied. Two are finite-element models, one studied with Orcaflex, an offshore marine system analysis software, and another one with Abaqus, a generalist structural analysis software. The third model is an analytical reduced-order model that represents only the touch-down zone.

14. Cor triatriatum sinister e hipertensão arterial pulmonar secundária em cão
This paper describes the occurrence of cor triatriatum sinister, a rare cardiac malformation in dogs, associated with pulmonary edema and pulmonary hypertension in a 5-year-old Poodle female with history of acute dyspnea and cyanosis. The animal presented acute respiratory failure, heart failure with low cardiac output, progressing to acute tubular necrosis

15. Keynes e o conceito de capital: reflexões epistemológicas a respeito das premissas sraffianas da teoria geral
Keynes and the concept of capital: some epistemological observations in regard to the Sraffian premises of the General Theory. This article aims to examine the conception of the nature of capital used by Keynes in the General Theory, to show to what extent this concept is similar to Sraffa's conception, and to highlight the implications related to this conce

16. In-situ quasi-static and dynamic behavioural response of steel tubular frames subjected to lateral impact loads
Steel tubular members are widely used as primary and secondary structural framing members in offshore oil and gas platforms. A platform is inherently liable to collisions from ships which can create severe structural damages in the rig. The effect of this damage has been studied by a number of researchers through investigating the impact behaviour isolated t

17. Relationships between chromatin remodeling and DNA damage repair induced by 8-methoxypsoralen and UVA in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Eukaryotic cells have developed mechanisms to prevent genomic instability, such as DNA damage detection and repair, control of cell cycle progression and cell death induction. The bifunctional compound furocumarin 8-methoxy-psoralen (8-MOP) is widely used in the treatment of various inflammatory skin diseases. In this review, we summarize recent data about t

18. Pilares de concreto armado em situação de incêndio submetidos à flexão normal composta. / Reinforced concrete columns in fire under uniaxial bending.
According to Brazilian Codes, reinforced concrete structures must be verified under high temperatures, in order to assure the load bearing capacity to allow the safe evacuation of the users and the fire fighting and to reduce the fire spread to other compartments. For reinforced concrete structures, the columns must be analyzed carefully. The significant red

19. Efeito da VariaÃÃo de LÃtio em Catalisadores de Ferro tendo PotÃssio e Cobre como Promotores para a SÃntese Fischer-Tropsch / EFFECT OF LITHIUM IN IRON BASED CATALYST FOR FISCHER-TROPSCH SYNTHESIS CONTAINING POTASSIUM AND COPPER AS PROMOTERS
New environmental regulations and a possible instability in the international oil market have led to a renewal interest in the Fischer-Tropsch Synthesis (FTS), which is an alternative to produce more environmental friendly fuels. The FTS is a polymerization reaction, in which syngas (H2 + CO) reacts in the presence of catalyst to produce hydrocarbons. Three

20. Liquid rocket combustion chamber acoustic characterization
Abstract: Over the last 40 years, many solid and liquid rocket motors have experienced combustion instabilities. Among other causes, there is the interaction of acoustic modes with the combustion and/or fluid dynamic processes inside the combustion chamber. Studies have been showing that, even if less than 1% of the available energy is diverted to an acousti

21. Otimização de topologia de estruturas e componentes / Topology optimizatin of sctructures and components
Topology optimization (TO) is an optimization technique that aims to help the designer in the phase of structural conception, seeking a better distribution of one fixed amount of material in a extended design domain. It combines a method of structural analysis with a mathematical programming (MP) algorithm. In this work, structural analysis is done by Finite

22. Forces on bracing elements of timber trusses / Forças em peças de contraventamento de treliças de madeira
This work analyzes the forces acting on the bracing bars of triangular timber trusses by computational numerical models. The models are produced in the system of structural analysis Strap and consider the operation of bracing in the three-dimensional structure. The maximum forces obtained in the three-dimensional models are compared to the minimum values ind

23. NONLINEAR DYNAMICS, INSTABILITY AND CONTROL OF STRUCTURAL SYSTEMS WITH MODAL INTERACTION / DINÂMICA NÃO-LINEAR, INSTABILIDADE E CONTROLE DE SISTEMAS ESTRUTURAIS COM INTERAÇÃO MODAL
The aim of this thesis is to study the influence of coupled buckling modes on the static and particularly on the nonlinear dynamic behavior of structural components liable to buckling. For this, two discrete two degrees of freedom models known for their complex nonlinear behavior are selected: the well-known Augusti¿s model and a simplified model of cable-s

24. Experimental study of structural behavior of curved bars. / Estudo experimental do comportamento estrutural de barras curvas.
This dissertation deals with an experimental study on the structural behavior of bars supported on a helical cylindrical surface and subject to compressive loads. A special experimental apparatus was designed and built for this purpose. The design, as well as the adjustment of such an apparatus is described in details. The device allows one adjusting the bar
