1. Screening of wild type Streptomyces isolates able to overproduce clavulanic acid
The selection of new microorganisms able to produce antimicrobial compounds is hoped for to reduce their production costs and the side effects caused by synthetic drugs. Clavulanic acid is a β-lactam antibiotic produced by submerged culture, which is widely used in medicine as a powerful inhibitor of β-lactamases, enzymes produced by bacteria resistant to

2. Clavulanic acid production by the MMS 150 mutant obtained from wild type Streptomyces clavuligerus ATCC 27064
Clavulanic acid (CA) is a powerful inhibitor of the beta-lactamases, enzymes produced by bacteria resistants to penicillin and cefalosporin. This molecule is produced industrially by strains of Streptomyces clavuligerus in complex media which carbon and nitrogen resources are supplied by inexpensive compounds still providing high productivity. The genetic pr

3. Production of clavulanic acid and cephamycin C by Streptomyces clavuligerus under different fed-batch conditions
The effect of carbon source and feeding conditions on the production of clavulanic acid (CA) and cephamycin C (CephC) by Streptomyces clavuligerus was investigated. In fed-batch experiments performed with glycerol feeding, production of CA exceeded that of CephC, and reached 1022 mg.L-1. Highest CephC production (566.5 mg.L-1) was obtained in fed-batch culti

4. Production and characterization of Streptomyces clavuligerus enzymes related to the biosynthesis of clavulanic acid / Produção e caracterização de enzimas de Streptomyces clavuligerus relacionadas com a síntese do ácido clavulânico

5. Evaluation of different media for the production of cephalosporins by Streptomyces clavuligerus ATCC 27064
The aim of this work was to compare the composition of a complex and soluble culture medium to eight other media described in the literature through the batch cultivation in a conventional bench-scale bioreactor for the production of cephamycin C by a wild strain of Streptomyces clavuligerus. The proposed medium resulted in an antibiotic production 1.5 to 7.

7. Estudo da cinética e do equilíbrio da adsorção da cefamicina C em resina de troca iônica e simulação do processo contínuo
The cephamycin C (CefC) is a beta-lactam antibiotic produced from submerged and aerated cultures of Streptomyces clavuligerus. Acts as inhibitor of cell wall formation of Gram-negative bacteria and is resistant to the hydrolytic action of betalactamases enzymes. The literature presents few scientific results published regarding the purification of CefC, and

8. Influence of glycerol and ornithine feeding on clavulanic acid production by Streptomyces clavuligerus
The influence of glycerol and ornithine feeding on clavulanic acid (CA) production by Streptomyces clavuligerus was investigated. In batch experiments, CA maximum concentration (Cp max) ranged randomly from 430 to 560 mg.L-1, with a maximum increase of 10% in relation to the control run, without ornithine. However, the maximum volumetric productivity of CA (

11. Avaliação de parâmetros de desempenho de três modelos de biorreatores pneumáticos de bancada
Due to the large number of functional advantages, pneumatic bioreactors have drawn attention in the biotechnology field, being more promising than stirred and aerated tank bioreactors. Parameters such as global gas hold-up (G), volumetric oxygen transfer coefficient (kLa) and average shear rate (Ym) must be considered as performance criteria of these
