1. Fumigant toxicity of some essential oils against Red Flour Beetles, Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) and its safety to mammals

2. Phytofabrication of silver nanoparticles using Myriostachya wightiana as a novel bioresource, and evaluation of their biological activities
ABSTRACT Nanobiotechnology deals with the properties of nanomaterials and their potential uses. Here we report for the first time novel, cost-effective and eco-friendly method for the rapid green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using leaf extracts of Myriostachya wightiana. The growth of silver nanoparticles was monitored by UV-vis spectroscopy co

4. Manejo integrado de pragas em grãos armazenados / Integrated management of pests in stored grain

5. Resistência fisiológica e comportamental de populações de Sitophilus zeamais à permetrina, esfenvalerato e esfenvalerato + fenitrotiona / Physiological and behavioral resistance of populations of Sitophilus zeamais to permethrin, esfenvalerate and esfenvalerate + fenitrothion
The maize weevil, Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky, 1855 (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is considered the main pest of stored maize in Brazil and its control is achieved mainly by insecticides. The massive and intensive use of these compounds may lead to selection of resistant populations and consequently compromise the control efficacy of this insect pest in Bra

6. Susceptibilidade de Tribolium castaneum ao óleo essencial de mostarda e persperctivas de manejo de resistência / Susceptibility of Tribolium castaneum to essential oil of mustard and perspectives resistance management
In this work, we studied the toxicity of mustard oil to 18 populations of Tribolium castaneum (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) collected in Brazil, and the correlation with their resistance and phosphine. There is relationship between toxicity of mustard oil and respiratory rate; we were seeking evidence that would be determinant of susceptibility to mustard oil.

7. BIOATIVIDADE DE EXTRATOS VEGETAIS NO CONTROLE DE Sitophilus oryzae (LINNÉ, 1763) EM ARROZ / BIOACTIVITY OF VEGETABLE EXTRACTS ON THE CONTROL OF Sitophilus oryzae (LINNÉ, 1763) IN RICE
The continuous growth of the world population, intensive competition among humans and plant pests for the same food sources, the resistence to existing inseticides by some insects and the persistence of residues in the environment and food created the necessity for new insecticides. In this research field, vegetable species appear as a promising source of ne

8. Avaliação da ação bioinseticida de SBTI e vicilina de Erythrina velutina em enzimas digestivas e membrana peritrófica de larvas de Plodia interpunctella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)
Plodia interpunctella (Indian meal moth) is a cosmopolitan pest that attacks not only a wide range of stored grain as well other food products. Due to its economic importance several researches have focused in a method with ability to control this pest with few or no damage to the environment. The study of digestive enzymes inhibitors, lectins and chitin-bin

9. Resíduos de fenitrotion e esfenvalerato em grãos de milho e trigo, em alguns de seus produtos processados e sua ação residual sobre Sitophilus oryzae (L., 1763), Sitophilus zeamais Motsch.,1855 (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) e Rhyzopertha dominica (Fabr.,1792) (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae) / Fenitrothion and esfenvalerate residues in corn and wheat grain and in some of their processed products, and residual action on Sitophilus oryzae (L., 1763), Sitophilus zeamais Motsch., 1855 (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), and Rhyzopertha dominica (Fabr., 1792) (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae)
Because of the problems caused by insects in storehouses, chemicals have been chiefly used in Brazil to control these pests. However, success in solving problems with pests has been limited. In view of this, some aspects about stored grain protection were studied, among which are the following: 1) spray volume effect on grain moisture content, 2) stability o

11. Bean [alpha]-Amylase Inhibitor Confers Resistance to the Pea Weevil (Bruchus pisorum) in Transgenic Peas (Pisum sativum L.).
Bruchid larvae cause major losses of grain legume crops through-out the world. Some bruchid species, such as the cowpea weevil and the azuki bean weevil, are pests that damage stored seeds. Others, such as the pea weevil (Bruchus pisorum), attack the crop growing in the field. We transferred the cDNA encoding the [alpha]-amylase inhibitor ([alpha]-AI) found
