1. Finite Element Modeling and Experimental Verification of Nitriding Process in S30C Steel
A mathematical model has been developed to simulate the nitriding process of plain carbon steel, considering the simultaneous diffusion of nitrogen in different iron-nitrogen (Fe-N) phases and the precipitation dynamics of γ' and ε iron-nitride. The model can predict the distribution of nitrogen concentration, volume fraction of Fe-N phases and hardness. F

2. Experimental small-scale analysis of the connections between structural clay block work masonry walls submitted to vertical loads / Análise experimental em escala reduzida de ligações entre paredes de alvenaria estrutural de blocos cerâmicos submetidas a ações verticais
This work presents a comparative analysis of three types of connections between structural masonry walls under vertical loads. The first type is a set of running bond interconnected masonry walls. The second connection is obtained by means of steel meshes and the third, also stack bond, is hardened by metallic staples anchored in grouted holes. The study is

3. NUMERICAL MODELING OF SEMI-RIGID CONNECTION FOR STEEL STRUCTURES / MODELAGEM NUMÉRICA DE LIGAÇÕES SEMI-RÍGIDAS EM ESTRUTURAS METÁLICAS / MODELO NUMÉRICO PARA LIGADURAS SEMIRÍGIDAS EN EXTRUCTURAS METÁLICAS
Semi-rigid connections are now-a-days widely employed by steel structures. Such connections take better advantage of the overall structure capabilities. In this work the properties and classification of semi-rigid connections is discussed. Additionally numerical and analytical models for prediction of connection behavior are presented. A finite element based
