1. Crystallographic Changes Accompanying the Verwey Transition in a Magnetite from Steatite
The crystallographic structural analysis of the magnetite of a steatite rock at 298 K, (saturation magnetization, σ = 95.0 J T-1 kg-1) showed two cubic networks and, below Verwey temperature (TV ca.120 K) a monoclinic structure, basing on their cell dimensions and different transitional behaviors when reducing the temperature. A monoclinic structure was ide

2. The Wear Performance of Glazed and Polished Full Contour Zirconia

3. Reinforced Glass-ceramics: Parametric Inspection of Three-Dimensional Wear and Volumetric Loss after Chewing Simulation

The levels of inorganic contaminants (As, Cd, Cu, Ni and Pb) were measured in 18 Brazilian spirit beverages, before and after 4 contact cycles of 24h each with in natura soapstone (steatite) cups. Results were compared to Brazilian regulation levels. Spirits contained As, Cd, Ni and Pb within permitted levels. For Cu, 5.6% of the brands were above the limit.

5. Cement - steatite composites reinforced with carbon fibres: an alternative for restoration of brazilian historical buildings
Steatite is a mineral which has been employed in the carving of elements in facades of Brazilian historical buildings and churches since the 17th century. Over the years, many of those historical buildings suffered the consequences of weathering with a current need for restoration. Recently a special cement-based mortar containing additions of fine powder wa

6. Oligochaetas edáficos em solos sob sistema de manejo a pleno sol e agroflorestal e vermicompostagem associada com pós de rochas / Edaphic oligochaetes in soils sun- and agroforestry-coffee management and vermicomposting associated with powdered rock

7. Effect of steatite waste additions on the physical and mechanical properties of clay composites
Mineral rock wastes are being widely investigated due to possible damage to the environment when discarded indiscriminately in the nature, but also because of their great potential as ceramic raw materials. This work aims to study the effect of steatite particle additions on the mechanical properties of clay composites. A comprehensive series of experiments

8. LAVRA, ARTESANATO E MERCADO DO ESTEATITO DE SANTA RITA DE OURO PRETO, MINAS GERAIS
Exportation of the steatite mined in Santa Rita - a district of Ouro Preto, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil - whose destinations are countries in Europe, North America and Asia - has presented a tendency of increasing in the last five years. In order to attend the international demand for this raw material, which is popularly known as soap stone, there

9. Agar Diffusion Method for the Assay of Colicins
An agar diffusion method for the assay of colicins A, B, D, E2, E3, and K is described. The assays were performed in large, square pyrex dishes that contained an agar layer seeded with an indicator organism sensitive to the colicin. The samples were applied to the agar in steatite beads positioned in a randomized sequence. The plates were stored at 4 C for 2
