1. Unsymmetrically substituted imidazolium salts: synthesis, characterization and antimicrobial activity
ABSTRACT Unsymmetrically substituted imidazolium salts were synthesized and characterized using 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR. The antimicrobial activities of the salts were evaluated using the agar-well diffusion method against 14 bacteria and five yeasts. The minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) against seven bacteria and one yeast were also determined. Among the

2. Preparação e caracterização de nanocompósitos a base de poli(álcool vinílico) carregados com nanopartículas de propriedades bactericidas via eletrofiação / Preparation and characterization of poly(vinyl alcohol)-based nanocomposites loaded with nanoparticles of bactericidal properties via electrospinning

5. Nature of the Elimination of the Penicillinase Plasmid from Staphylococcus aureus by Surface-Active Agents
Growth of Stapylococcus aureus in various ionic surface-active agents resulted in loss of the ability to produce penicillinase, whereas growth in nonionic surface-active agents had no effect on penicillinase production. The curing effect of various alkyl sulfates was found to be dependent upon the chain length. Curing by surface-active agents could be inhibi

6. Increase in the 64-kDa subunit of the polyadenylation/cleavage stimulatory factor during the G0 to S phase transition
The amount of the 64-kDa subunit of polyadenylation/cleavage stimulatory factor (CstF-64) increases 5-fold during the G0 to S phase transition and concomitant proliferation induced by serum in 3T6 fibroblasts. Higher levels of CstF-64 result in an increase in CstF trimer. The rise in CstF-64 occurs at a time when the amount of poly(A)-containing RNA rose at
