13. Concentração de amido resistente em pão francês pré-assado congelado: aspectos tecnológicos. / Resistant starch concentration in par-baker frozen french bread: technological aspects.
The objective of this work was to study the partial substitution of wheat flour (WF) for maize resistant starch (MRS) in the elaboration of frozen par-baked French bread (FPBFB) and offering a technological alternative for a product consumed at Braziliansbreakfast, presenting functional properties due to dietary fiber (DF) content. Dough performance measurem

14. Desenvolvimento de blocos confeccionados com escória proveniente da reciclagem do aço / Development of blocks made with slag from steel recycling
This reasearch aims at evaluating the use of slag from steel making in the production of self-supported blocks for masonry. The largest residual volume generated from the steel making process is the slag, which is used for cement production and paving of roads. There is a lot of researches and papers issued about such subjects. However, the use of slag to ma

15. Simulação do recobrimento de partículas em leito de jorro usando modelos de balanço populacional
A dynamic simplified model based on population balances is used to calculate the population density function of a particles coating process in a spouted bed with a draft tube, considering an independent size growing. The model considers the bed composed by two constant size domains of perfect mixture, where occurs coating and drying of particles, with circul

17. MediÃÃo experimental e prediÃÃo da volatilidade de flex fuels
Oxygenated additives are added to gasoline to increase its antiknock properties. These compounds are substitutes for additives that are environmentally more aggressive, like tetraethyl lead. The oxygenated used in the Brazilian gasoline is the anhydrous ethanol 20% the 25%, which can affect the fuel properties strongly. In the last decade, the number of vehi

18. DEVELOPMENT OF METHODOLOGIES FOR THE ARSENIC SPECIATION IN WATERS AND SALINE MATRICES BY ADSORPTIVE CATHODIC STRTIPPING VOLTAMMETRY / DESENVOLVIMENTO DE METODOLOGIAS PARA A ESPECIAÇÃO DE ARSÊNIO EM ÁGUAS E MATRIZE SALINAS EMPREGANDO VOLTAMETRIA ADSORTIVA DE REDISSOLUÇÃO CATÓDICA
The present work reports the development of methodologies for the arsenic speciation in waters and saline matrices by adsorptive cathodic stripping voltammetry (AdCSV). The determination of As(III) by AdCSV was investigated and optimized using the organic ligand sodium diethyldithiocarbamate (DDC) in acidic medium. The main experimental parameters that have

19. Review of the synthesis of layered double hydroxides: a thermodynamic approach
The synthesis of layered double hydroxides (LDHs) by hydrothermal-LDH reconstruction and coprecipitation methods is reviewed using a thermodynamic approach. A mixture model was used for the estimation of the thermodynamics of formation of LDHs. The synthesis and solubility of LDHs are discussed in terms of standard molar Gibbs free energy change of reaction.

20. Estudo de metodos multivariados para analise e calibração de espectros
Considering the importance of resolving the chemical analysis mixture problem, a comparative study involving R-mode principal component methods, principal component regression (PCR) and partial least squares (PLS) regression, and the Q-mode principal component method of Imbrie was carried out. Furthermore the K matrix method was also studied. Several pre-pro

21. Determinação direta de selênio em água de coco e em leite de coco utilizando espectrometria de absorção atômica com atomização eletrotérmica em forno de grafite
Selenium is both essential and toxic to man and animals, depending on the concentration and the ingested form. Most fruits and vegetables are poor sources of selenium, but coconut can be a good selenium source. Samples were suspended (1 + 4 v/v) in a mixture of tertiary amines soluble in water (10% v/v CFA-C). This simple sample treatment avoided contaminati

22. CisModule: De novo discovery of cis-regulatory modules by hierarchical mixture modeling
The regulatory information for a eukaryotic gene is encoded in cis-regulatory modules. The binding sites for a set of interacting transcription factors have the tendency to colocalize to the same modules. Current de novo motif discovery methods do not take advantage of this knowledge. We propose a hierarchical mixture approach to model the cis-regulatory mod

23. Activities of Trovafloxacin, Gatifloxacin, Clinafloxacin, Sparfloxacin, Levofloxacin, and Ciprofloxacin against Penicillin-Resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae in an In Vitro Infection Model
We adapted an in vitro pharmacodynamic model of infection to incorporate infected fibrin clots. The bactericidal activities of various fluoroquinolones against two strains of penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae were studied over a 48-h period. Bacteria were prepared in Muller-Hinton broth by using colonies from a 24-h tryptic soy agar plus 5% sheep

24. Predictive Thermal Inactivation Model for Effects of Temperature, Sodium Lactate, NaCl, and Sodium Pyrophosphate on Salmonella Serotypes in Ground Beef
Analyses of survival data of a mixture of Salmonella spp. at fixed temperatures between 55°C (131°F) and 71.1°C (160°F) in ground beef matrices containing concentrations of salt between 0 and 4.5%, concentrations of sodium pyrophosphate (SPP) between 0 and 0.5%, and concentrations of sodium lactate (NaL) between 0 and 4.5% indicated that heat resistance
